Description
“The Old Man and the Sea” is a novella by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1952, that tells the story of Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman struggling with a long streak of bad luck. He embarks on a three-day journey far out into the Gulf Stream where he hooks a giant marlin, leading to an epic battle between man and nature. Despite eventually catching the marlin, Santiago faces a relentless onslaught of sharks on his return journey, ultimately losing his prize to the predators. The novella explores themes of resilience, courage, and the human spirit’s capacity to endure even in the face of defeat
